Issey Miyake AW14-15 show is, as expected, a success. Yoshiyuki Miyamae plays around with graphics, structured garments and atypical silhouettes. Not surprising, as these elements define the designer’s signature.
The show started. Models walked to the music of Chiyako and Ei Wada’s extraordinary guitar. All the audience observed the opening performance of three models taking their dress out of half-moon shaped bags. Hard to imagine but staggering to watch!
Autumn definitely inspired the designer, as the collection showcased colours of trees and forest such as brown, red, green. Moreover, Miyamae was inspired by design technology Steam Stretch by Issey Miyake, in which steam heat make the stretchy threads shrink vertically and horizontally on the wave. These new technology pieces came out to be very interesting and look even comfortable to wear. Shall we then include 3-D designs to the must-have list for Fall/Winter 2014-15? If we’re all obsessed with the latest smartphones, I don’t see why we would say no to Fashion i-Tech…
Personal thoughts – The show impressed me, as usual. The collection seems comfortable to wear although it is structured as well as innovative. The Asian x European mix still is there. That is certainly what I like the most in Issey Miyake’s designs.
